3-ingredient, non-toxic, DIY Laundry Detergent (powder)

3 ingredients (plus optional essential oils). Mix. Done. And it'll last a really long time! Easy enough for a 7 year old to do. For more info, go to QandALiving.com/starterkit

That’s right! I didn’t get my laundry detergent in time! So thankfully we had a recipe to whip up a batch in no time! It would be far quicker if you used a food processor for the soap, but you can also grate it (like I did before thinking about the food processor).

Ingredients:

1 (approx 4.5 oz) bar of unscented bar soap, shaved

1 cup washing soda

1 cup borax

5-15 drops of Essential oils, get yours here (and even buy your own Thieves laundry detergent if you’d prefer) - I used Thieves, Citrus Fresh, and Purification

Instructions

Either grate the soap (I used the small side of the grater), or put it through a food processor. Add the washing soda and borax, along with your choice of essential oils. If it’s in your food processor, just continue to combine in that way. If you don’t have one, then just stir everything together to incorporate (about 5 minutes).

Use 1 Tbs per full load. It should be enough for about 32-64 loads per batch.

Store in a glass container, either one that already has a label on it (or these that come with labels to attach yourself), or buy your own chalboard labels (if you’re feeling artistic, you can even paint it with chalboard paint - go you!).
