DIY Face Serum (14 options)
My husband and I recently noticed that our skin had improved quite a bit (tone, wrinkles, etc).
What had we changed?
Surprise, surprise: We’d added essential oils.
When I talk about these therapeutic-grade, exceptional quality essential oils, I’m referring to these ones. Please don’t find your cheapest oil and settle for that. You get what you pay for. Check out this website to see the processes/procedures involved with the quality of these essential oils.
Please also keep in mind that your skin is not only affected by what you put on it, but also what goes INSIDE your body. Not just sufficient hydration, I also mean what you eat, and how you nourish your body from the inside out. But that’s a topic for another day.
We’re currently living in South Africa, and as of the time of print, the South African market for Young Living does not yet offer the face lotions here (YET - they are continually adding more of the incredible products). So I’ve been getting a local “clean” face lotion as usual and adding the essential oils to it.
But we’ve decided to up our game, and add in a face serum for a good punch of skin nourishment while we sleep.
Pictured here I have just some of the very many essential oils that support skin health in some way or another. You could use one oil, you could use a combo of a few… or go crazy and use them all. But as always: first, dilute a lot, test it on your skin, and work your way up from there.
I’m combining my mixture with jojoba oil, because I like how it feels on my skin. Although I think next time I’ll use the V6 oil from Young Living instead, it feels amazing without leaving an oily residue (and lasts forever). You could use whichever carrier oil you think works best on your face. Some examples are sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, or even olive oil. You could even add in a squeeze of Vitamin E oil to your mix.
Just add your combo to a glass dropper bottle, fill with a carrier oil, and put 2-4 drops on your face before bed.
Remember that even for the one or two of these essential oils that may be on the pricier end, you’ll like only use a drop or two in your entire bottle (which would last you a few months). A 5ml essential oil bottle contains around 85-100 drops of oil, and the 15ml bottles contain around 250 drops of oil… that’s going to last you a REALLY long time.
If you want to keep it as simple as can be, just use frankincense and lavender. Sorted. That’s it! You can’t go wrong with either of those two gems.
So that’s one easy option, but if you’re looking for specific combinations, here are some blends you can do together…
